Minchi
Minchi is a hearty dish typical of Macau cuisine. Its name comes from the word minced. Hence, the popular belief the Anglophone community from Hong Kong brought it to Macau. Then again, some believe it came from Goa, which happened to be one more Portuguese province like the city. Regardless of who introduced it or where it came from, the bottom line is Minchi is delicious.
The combination of minced beef and pork plus potatoes makes it a filling and savory dish. Hence, its supposed popularity among the city’s young boys. Meat variations are also available using shrimp or chicken. For flavor, its recipe calls for spices, garlic, shallots, and a mix of soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. A sunny side up egg is the crowning glory to all of this goodness. It is best eaten with steaming rice. |
