Nasi Ayam & Nasi Campur
Rice - a most essential staple in Asian cuisine - is not just rice in Bali. The region has elevated the simple white rice into dishes that are raved about locally and internationally - the Nasi Ayam and Nasi Campur.
Nasi Ayam - also known as chicken rice - is a delicacy made up of lightly flavoured yellow rice paired with grilled chicken induced with turmeric, cumin, garlic and ginger. A plate of Nasi Campur, on the other hand, is made up of white rice and small portions of vegetables, small bits of meat and spicy sambal matah. Most restaurants serve Nasi Ayam and Nasi Campur together - a serving of both can satisfy you like no other. They say that the gentle and addictive flavours of Nasi Ayam and Nasi Campur can convince even the most reluctant foodie to indulge in Balinese food. Pair these local dishes with a fresh fruit shake and you’re good to go. |
